Podiatry Services

A Podiatrist, or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) is a specialist in the medical management of disorders affecting the foot an ankle. DPMs are specially trained physicians whose clinical and surgical training allow them to diagnose foot and ankle problems and provide a treatment plan tailored to the specific needs of the patient. A DPM’s education includes a four-year undergraduate degree, followed by a four-year podiatric medical degree. A minimum of two years of postgraduate residency is required for state licensure, although many Podiatrists complete three years of residency training.

Podiatrists work in a variety of settings including private practice, group practice, as members of hospital staffs, and as faculty members of medical schools.

With the population aging and becoming more active, the skills and services of Podiatrists are in increasing demand to treat chronic and acute foot and ankle conditions, including problems that are often neglected or overlooked.
