Dr. Kurian was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he ran cross-country and track at Marquette University High School. He obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. While in Medical School at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Kurian began training for and competing in triathlons at the local and national level. While a busy resident at Summa Health System in Akron, OH, his triathlon habit became an obsession as he competed in multiple Ironman distance events, eventually qualifying for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. Although he spent the majority of his free time training for the Hawaiian Ironman in the summer of 2006, his top priority was his orthopedic training. After completing his orthopedic residency in June of 2006, Dr. Kurian spent the next academic year completing a fellowship in shoulder, knee and hip arthroscopy and shoulder reconstruction under some of the pioneers of arthroscopy at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Los Angeles. Currently, Dr. Kurian’s goal on a day to day basis is to listen to his patients and in turn, educate them so they may help heal themselves.
