Dr. Brett Andres came to the Orthopedic & Fracture Clinic from Sydney, Australia, where he completed a Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship at the University of New South Wales. Prior to that Dr. Andres practiced orthopedic surgery with an emphasis in sports medicine for four years at Ehrling Berquist Hospital on Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. He earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1998 from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2003. Dr. Andres has been board certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons since 2005.

Dr. Andres’s broad range of experience adds to the clinic's comprehensive group of physicians. During his military service he practiced orthopedic surgery and sports medicine and also served a tour in Iraq treating complex battlefield injuries. While training and conducting academic research at the renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland, Dr. Andres worked with some of the founders and major innovators in the field of joint replacement surgery. He studied specialized shoulder and sports surgery techniques during his Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Andres employs the most advanced technologies for shoulder and knee surgery, including minimally invasive and computer-assisted techniques.

Dr. Andres strives to provide the best possible care for his patients. He believes the study of orthopedic outcomes is “essential in determining the best possible and most proven treatment options” for his patients and remains active in research in this field. His current research interests include arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, treating shoulder stiffness, and the biology and treatment of tendinopathy. He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at international meetings on these topics. His treatment philosophy is “… to care for my patients as I would members of my own family. My goal is to provide the best care with the least invasive means available, and to get my patients back to their activities as quickly as possible.”

Dr. Andres is an avid athlete and enjoys ice hockey, surfing, cycling, climbing, skiing, and spending time with his family of five.
