Knee Training Zone

  Knee Training Zone MAC Welcome

Dear MAC Parents and Athletes,

Thank you for your consideration to participate in our anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury risk and prevention program, The Knee Training Zone. The purpose of the Orthopedic & Fracture Clinic's program is to reduce the athletes' risk for a serious knee injury by improving movement patterns and muscle balance. The Knee Training Zone is based on extensive reviews of programs that have demonstrated a reduction in non-contact ACL injuries amongst their participants. While no program can guarantee that an athlete won't suffer an ACL injury, we have created this program to attempt to reduce the risk of non-contact injuries.

During the first day, athletes will be asked to complete a series of drills and sport-related activities, and to undergo assessments including video analysis that will take approximately one hour. Based on the findings, we will establish baseline information and determine a risk level for the athlete: red for greatest risk, yellow for moderate risk, and green for lowest risk.

The second day will focus on athlete education. Participants will be instructed in techniques and exercises designed to reduce their risk for an ACL injury. Your team will continue to incorporate these exercises into practice. In addition, we will provide an informative seminar for the parents and coaches.

Individual results, including video analysis, will be available online within 30 days. In order to view this information, you can simply visit our website at www.ofc-oregon.com, locate the Dartfish icon under ACL prevention, and log in using the identification number provided to you at the course. You will also be able to view biographies about the providers of this course online.

The first day of testing is mm/dd/yyyy with the follow-up session on mm/dd/yyyy. Each session will take place during practice. We sincerely hope that these efforts will reduce the athletes’ risk of a serious knee injury.
